If you are preparing for a divorce in Ventura County call the law firm of Joan L. Collier. I am a skilled divorce attorney, and I can help prevent minor conflicts in the dissolution process from growing into money-wasting litigation. Contact me today to discuss your legal concerns related to divorce.
When petitioning for dissolution of marriage, California does not require you to show grounds for the divorce. “No fault” divorce merely requires one spouse to demonstrate that “irreconcilable differences” have caused a permanent breakdown of the marriage. Also, California is a “community property” state, meaning that most assets or income acquired while married is split equally unless there is a written agreement that states otherwise. However, while resolving these points may seem simple, other problems are usually involved in the divorce process. Child Custody and visitation issues introduce another level of complexity to any divorce.
Planning for the future will require the separation of bank accounts, medical and life insurance as well as retirements and any other joint legal endeavors you may have undertaken while married. Determining spousal support or alimony is often another difficult issue to resolve, and one of the most highly contested matters in any divorce.
I help people through one of their most difficult life challenges. As an attorney practicing law since 2002, I can anticipate many of the problems that are likely to arise during the course of your divorce. I provide outstanding legal representation at any stage of the process, call my Ventura office at 805-981-3909 or email me today.
